Best Foundations for Oily Skin

If you have oily skin, but love a good foundation, you are in the right place. I am a true makeup lover and love a nice glam. However, my glam can turn to gunk when the foundation does not suit my oily skin. I’m sharing my favorite foundations and why I love them! All of these foundations have worked very well for my skin, as I tend to get very oily in my T-zone and constantly have to touch up. However, these foundations do not require constant touch up and last all day!

Skin Prep
These foundations definitely work magic on their own, but the best way I ensure longwear is to prep my skin! I complete the below steps to make sure my foundation is flawless.

Cleanse: I always start with a clean canvas with my favorite cleanser. I currently use the Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser which is a very gentle cleanser that removes dirt, oil and makeup.

Moisturize: Even though my skin is oily, I make sure to apply moisturizer so my skin doesn’t try to produce excess oil. I usually go for an oil-free moisturizer like the Neutrogena Oil Free Face Moisturizer For Combination Skin.

Prime: This is the absolute must each time I apply makeup. Primer creates a smoother base and helps my makeup last longer. My favorite primer is the NYX Angel Veil Primer.

Once my canvas is nice and ready, it’s time to apply my foundation! Here is the list of of my favorite foundations for oily skin:

Shiseido Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Foundation

Coverage: Medium
Finish: Natural
Why I love it: This foundation is a medium coverage, but very buildable for full coverage. It gives a nice natural, but glowy finish. I love pairing this foundation with a glamorous looks that consists of a dramatic eye and lip.

Fenty Beauty Pro filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation

Coverage: Medium to Full
Finish: Matte
Why I love it: This foundation is very matte! For oily skin, this usually is nice because you don’t have to worry about excess shine. Even though it’s matte, it is very comfortable and lightweight so you do not feel cakey. I have a full YouTube review and wear test on this foundation if you want to check it out!

Nars Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation

Coverage: Full
Finish: Natural
Why I love it: Let me just say that this foundation lives in my everyday drawer. I love full coverage, lightweight, natural foundation and this checks all the boxes. The application is so smooth and it truly lasts all day for a full glam.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup

Coverage: Full
Finish: Matte
Why I love it: My holy grail! I save this foundation for special occasions because it’s pricey, but also because it’s so good. This gives you such good coverage, a matte (not face tight matte) finish and literally stands the test of time! I have worn this foundation to weddings, parties, all day events and it never lets me down.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Luminous Foundation

Coverage: Medium
Finish: Luminous, Natural finish
Why I love it: This foundation truly gives you a beautiful natural finish leaving your skin glowy, but not oily. This is my personal favorite for an everyday look since it melts to my skin. Even though it’s “luminous” it lasts long and does not produce extra shine.

Morphe Brushes Filter Effect Soft-Focus Foundation

Coverage: Medium
Finish: Soft Matte, Natural
Why I love it: This foundation applies effortlessly and has a true soft matte finish giving you a matte look that isn’t too drying, but still a little glowy.
